چکیده

The study involves the batch biosorption process for the removal of Chromium in the aqueous solution using the dried pods of Prosopis spicigera. Factors influencing the biosorption are pH, contact time, adsorbent dose and initial metal ion concentration. Characterization of the biosorbent is carried out to study the morphology by using Scanning Electron Micrograph (SEM). The maximum biosorption occurred at pH 3, contact time 120 min, Biosorbent dose 2 g/l and initial metal ion concentration of 200 mg L -1 . Kinetic models were also described and fit good in Pseudo second order. The equilibrium data was also analyzed using Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms.

Removal of hexavalent chromium from aqueous solution using canola biomass: Isotherms and kinetics studies

The removing of hexavalent chromium from wastewater or decreasing its chromium (VI) content up to the permitted levels is important due to its non-biodegradation, bioaccumulation, and cancer-causing and toxic effects. In the present study, biosorption of Cr (VI) from aqueous solutions using canola was investigated. The various physicochemical parameters such as pH, initial Cr (VI) ion concentra...

Removal of chromium (VI) from aqueous solution by adsorption using cousinia eryngioides boiss and activated carbon

Adsorption capacity of Cr (VI) onto cousinia eryngioides boiss, activated carbon was investigated in a batch system by considering the effects of various parameters like contact time, initial concentration, pH, temperature, agitation speed, absorbent dose and particle size. Cr (VI) removal is pH dependent and found to be maximum at pH 2.0. The amounts of Cr (VI) adsorbed increased with increase...

Removal of Hexavalent Chromium Using Activated Carbons Derived from Marine Algae Gracilaria and Sargassum Sp

Industrial wastewater contain higher quantities of salts besides chromium (VI) ions, therefore, the effect of these salts on the adsorption of chromium (VI) should be studied. In this research, the batch removal of toxic hexavalent chromium ions from wastewater and aqueous solution using two different activated carbon marine algae Gracilaria (red algae) and Sargassum sp. (brown algae) were exam...
